Hacienda Herrera: where the jungle becomes an experience
Before becoming a lodge, Hacienda Herrera was a territory of living forest, river and family memory. Located on the banks of the Lower Madre de Dios River, the property belongs to the Herrera Zegarra family, guarding an Amazonian landscape that remained intact and full of life.
Nine years ago (2017), Kenny Herrera and Ruth Torres, ecotourism specialists, decided to transform this space into a purposeful project. More than building accommodation, they imagined a place where nature, education and responsible tourism could coexist authentically.
The first steps of Hacienda Herrera were always linked to science and education. In alliance with the Center for Education, Science and Conservation of Tambopata (CECCOT), they began to receive groups of students, including young people from the University of Miami, who found in this space a living laboratory to understand the Amazon.
Over time, the need arose to give sustainability to the project. This is how the ecotourism proposal of Hacienda Herrera was born: the design of experiences, programs and tours designed for travelers seeking a real connection with the jungle, local culture and biodiversity.
Today, Hacienda Herrera is a consolidated ecolodge recognized for excellence in service, quality of infrastructure and authenticity of its experiences. Our lodge is among the highest rated on platforms such as Trip Advisor and Booking, reflecting our commitment to each visitor.
Hacienda Herrera is more than a place to stay. It is a space where the Amazon is lived, learned and protected.
We are a tourism company that offers ecotourism and adventure tourism programs in the region in a personalized way, acting responsibly with conservation, research and education in the Peruvian Amazon.
