DAY 1
ARRIVAL
We will receive you at the airport or bus station and we will embark to the Hacienda Herrera, travelling about 20 minutes by boat on the Madre de Dios river. After the arrival we will give you all the information about your stay and you will be able to get some rest before your first discovery activity!
VISIT TO OUR ORGANIC AMAZONIAN FARM
During the visit to our farm you will learn about amazonian organic agroforestry and appreciate different plantations of tropical cultures, such as plantains, papaya, guaba, cacao, starfruit, mango, acerola, pineapple, sugar cane, oranges, mandarines, lemons, avocado, caimito, cocona, amazonian chili pepper, and yuca. According to the seasonal availability you will also get a taste of them!
Duration: 2 hours
KAYAKING IN THE MADRE DE DIOS RIVER
Kayaking in an Amazonian river is an activity that will profoundly nurture your connection with the rainforest. All we have to do is paddle downstream the Madre de Dios river and enjoy the breathtaking sensation of paddling in the Amazon basin. As you cruise down the river, you might also see wildlife in the riverside vegetation.
After a couple hours of fun paddling in the river, we'll get back upstream by boat to the Hacienda Herrera.
Duration: 2 hours
FREE TIME
...to relax on the hammocks or enjoy the sunset sitting by the riverside.
RIVER BY NIGHT
After sunset we'll get out on the boat to experience the river by night and, with a bit of luck, to spot small caimans and capybaras on the river banks. Being in the river at night time is also a great opportunity to enjoy a breathtaking view of the stars and the moon!
Duration: 1.5 hours
DAY 2
CACHUELA PARROT CLAY LICK
We will leave the Hacienda Herrera at 5am to ride about 45minutes by boat upstream and reach the clay lick when parrots are most active. The collpa Cachuela is the perfect spot for bird lovers to see parrots and parakeets, such as yellow-fronted parrot, mealy parrot and occasionally the blue-headed macaw and other small macaws. We'll have breakfast on the boat as we continue observing the clay lick activity while enjoying the dawn!
Duration: 2 hours
RETURN TO THE CITY
We will return to the city by boat at the end of your last excursion, generally by late morning.
