BANDING BIRDS

ABOUT BIRD BANDING
Bird banding is a marking technique for the study of wild birds, which consists of placing a coded ring, usually aluminum, on the leg of a living bird. Bird banding data are useful in both research and management projects. The individual identification of birds makes it possible to study dispersion, migration, behavior, social structure, life span, survival rate, reproductive success and population growth, among others.
